A mixer drill originally supplied in 1986 to a local plasterer has been returned for a service to the original supplier, Refina, following 18 years of faultless service. The Refina Megamixer was originally purchased by a specialist subcontractor who subsequently joined the ranks of Formscape Ltd, an established drylining and finishing contractor in Poole, Dorset.
Reliable performer
"We supply all our tradesmen and subcontractors with Refina Megamixers as they have consistently proven to be hard working and reliable," said Rick Gould, director, Formscape. "After we inherited this old orange mixer drill we took it into Refina on the off chance that they may be able to service it, we didn't realise that it had been mixing plaster for an incredible 18 years, it certainly justifies our policy of buying the best professional quality equipment."
Refina instantly took a shine to the old machine and thought it an opportune time to retire it into its 'Hall-of-Excellence' museum. As a complementary gesture the company promptly furnished Formscape with the most up-to-date replacement available.
"We all like to justify our quality levels, and this is an exceptional example," said Peter Gray, Refina's MD. "The machine was one of the first of its kind supplied by us and so we decided it would be nice to put it out-to-grass as an example of professional excellence and reliability.
How many?
"We have conservatively estimated how much plaster it has mixed over that time - and based on a typical week of c.150sq meters of plastering - it works out to be the equivalent of c.40,000 bags of plaster mix - that's enough to plaster around 500 average homes."
Poole based Refina has been supplying specialist paddle mixers to the plaster, render and screed trades since 1985. The company started its business distributing trade-quality German made mixer paddles and at the same time introduced slow speed mixer drills made by Eibenstock in what was then East Germany
Eibenstock has redeveloped its factory since German reunification and is now one of Europe's most modern and efficient power tool producers; they are the market leader in mixer drills and have the largest range of diamond core drills and surface-preparation power tools - all are available to trade professionals in the UK, exclusively through Refina.

"Re: Powerprep - We have tried the machine on an existing contract for the removal of paint from soft sandstone ... I am pleased to report that the machine performed exceptionally well without any damage to the underlying soft sandstone. The machine removed the paint brilliantly and moreover we successfully redressed some of the existing lintels using the ZEC disc. The small purchase price combined with the quality of its German manufacture resulted in an excellent small investment. We will be pleased to purchase other products and equipment from your extensive range."

"We recently purchased a Rotamixer RM65, 110V machine from yourselves. I would like to say how pleased I was with the machine. We recently carried out an epoxy floor laying contract at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. We used the RM65 to mix 15 tonnes of epoxy screed over a two week period. The RM65 mixed consistently with a constant power, indeed, pleasantly, it did exactly what you described in your literature.
I thank you for prompt service and look forward to continued service from your company"

"Just a quick note - we use your MM19 mixer. We fix a 6" plastic plate to the bottom of the mixer before mixing and a lot of the splash back from mixing plaster hits that and saves a lot of cleaning and damage to the mixer.
Yours sincerely, a very satisfied customer"

"Thank you for your recent delivery which was received today as promised.
We have used the smaller machines for skimming etc. but are most
impressed with these MM30's, which we have been using for many years
now. They are pressed quite hard when mixing plaster for a gang all day
long or for heavy mixes like drywall compounds but always prove reliable
and seem to go on for ever (if looked after!). I'm sure we will be
buying many more."
